Order! Order! Correction of Votes and Proceedings - Tuesday, 1st October, 2006. Page 1. . . Page 6 -
Mr. K. A. Okerchire 10 a.m.
Mr. Speaker,
if I may refer you to item number 5. Mr. Speaker, if my memory serves me right, we adopted five Official Reports but the way it is captured here, it is as if only two Reports were adopted. So I would plead with you to let the Clerk's Office amend the records.
Mr. Speaker, secondly, if one looks at
the list of Members present or absent, the name of hon. Kojo Armah was recorded as being absent but I did see him yesterday, as the Whip. That is the correction that I have.
Mr. Speaker 10 a.m.
Hon. Kojo Armah was
absent yesterday but with permission. It is true that five Official Reports were adopted and so the corrections will have to be done.
Hon. Members, we do not have any
Official Report for today.
Item 3 -- Urgent Questions. Is the hon. Minister for Aviation in the House?
URGENT QUESTION 10 a.m.

MINISTRY OF AVIATION 10 a.m.

Minister for Aviation (Ms. Gloria Akuffo) 10 a.m.
Mr. Speaker, as the honourable House may be aware, Ghana Airways Company Limited has been in liquidation since the 22nd of June, 2005. The Registrar of Companies as the official liquidator, through her advisors, PriceWaterhouse Coopers, advertised for the sale of the assets of Ghana Airways Company Limited, including aircraft and related equipment, in the national dailies and various international media on the 19th October, 2005.
Mr. Speaker, submission of bids closed on the 31st of March, 2006 resulting in the receipt of five bids from five companies. These companies are:
Aircraft Engine Parts Limited of United States of America,
CSDS Aviation Incorporated of
USA, 10 a.m.

Dr. Ampofo 10 a.m.
Mr. Speaker, I am not exactly clear as to what the source of the disagreement is and what has happened or what will happen in the situation where an advance has been paid; I think I heard US$50,000. If she could clarify that again for me, it would be appreciated.
Ms. Akuffo 10 a.m.
Mr. Speaker, they were
all happy with each other, but when it came to the agreement that had been drafted, there was a disagreement as to payment for insurance. The liquidator
Dr. Ampofo 10:10 a.m.
Mr. Speaker, I would like to know when soonest we can have an update on the outcome of the attempt to resolve the impasse so that we move on from there?
Ms. Akuffo 10:10 a.m.
Mr. Speaker, today is
1st November. I think within a month, we should be able to resolve it.

Mr. Speaker 10:10 a.m.
Hon. Member, I will
not allow you to ask any question. Hon. Minister, thank you very much for appearing to answer this Urgent Question. You are discharged.
At the Commencement of Public
Business - Item 5 - Committee Sittings.
Majority Leader (Mr. F. K. Owusu-
Adjapong): Mr. Speaker, we have a lot of referrals that have been made to many Committees. I would rather suggest that we allow the Committee leadership to have opportunity to discuss among themselves the programmes so that we can
later on convene a meeting of Chairmen and Ranking Members of Committees and then ensure that a lot of the pending matters are handled before we get the budget.
I therefore move, that this House adjourns till tomorrow at 10.00 o'clock in the morning.
Ms. Akua Sena Dansua 10:10 a.m.
Mr. Speaker, I beg to second the motion.
