Debates of 21 Dec 2021

MR FIRST DEPUTY SPEAKER
PRAYERS 11:07 a.m.

Mr First Deputy Speaker 11:07 a.m.
Hon
Members, we would go through the
Votes and Proceedings for Monday,
20th December, 2021.
  • [No correction was made to the Votes and Proceedings of Monday, 20th December, 2021.]
  • Mr First Deputy Speaker 11:07 a.m.
Yes, Hon Majority Leader, let me
    hear you.
    Majority Leader (Mr Osei
    Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu): Mr Speaker,
    we adjourned the House yesterday
and we indicated to ourselves that we
would be reconvening here at 9 a.m.
We have been waiting all this while,
making necessary calls but thus far,
nothing responsive. I think that where
we are, if we take an adjournment, it
would allow cooler heads to come
back to this House and we can then
    continue the transaction of Business
in a much more serene environment.
In that regard, Mr Speaker, I
would invite you to adjourn the
House sine die in the hope that we
can come back on or about Tuesday,
the 18th of January, 2021, to continue
    Business.
Mr First Deputy Speaker 11:17 a.m.
    Yes, Hon Minority Leader?
    Minority Leader (Mr Haruna
Iddrisu): Mr Speaker, it is important
that we carry the country along and
we need to demonstrate to the country
that our democracy is growing and
would not suffer some of the
    unacceptable scenes and spectacles
we have witnessed on the Floor.

    Mr Speaker, the Hon Majority

Leader has suggested, and I can only

concur that you adjourn the House

sine die for further consultation on

    the outstanding issue. Thankfully, the

    Appropriation Bill, 2022, has been

passed so the Hon Minister could

keep the country running and keep its

    institutions running.

    I second the Motion for

    adjournment.

    Question put and Motion agreed

    to.
    ADJOURNMENT 11:17 a.m.
