Hon Members, the Votes and Proceedings of Tuesday, 7 th February, 2017, as corrected are hereby adopted as the true record of proceedings.
  • [No correction was made to the Official Report of Tuesday, 31st January, 2017.]
  • Mr Speaker 11:50 p.m.
Hon Members, item numbered 4 -- Statements.
I have admitted one Statement by Hon Alhaji B. F. Alhassan, Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu on violence and destruction of property in the Sagnarigu District and the Tamale Metropolis.
    Mr Haruna Iddrisu 11:50 p.m.
Mr Speaker, I probably have to persuade you.
The Hon Alhaji B. F. Alhassan is not in the Chamber presently. He was in my office shortly before I came for the pre- Sitting.
It appears that at the pre-Sitting you considered two Statements. If it is only one, then we would have a difficulty. I have asked the Whips to get him into the Chamber. But if he is not available, you probably may defer that to tomorrow.
    Mr Speaker 11:50 p.m.
    Very well.
Thank you very much, Hon Minority Leader.
At the Commencement of Public Business -- item numbered 5.
    Hon Majority Leader, any indications?
Majority Leader (Mr Osei Kyei- Mensah-Bonsu) 11:50 p.m.
Mr Speaker, the Fifth Report of the Appointments Committee on
His Excellency the President's nomi- nations for Ministerial appointments is not ready, so, it cannot be laid.
Indeed, we are still considering some nominees, and it is envisaged that they would be through by Friday and then submit a Report on that.
Mr Speaker, there are committees that are required to meet. We also need to have a joint caucus meeting. I would plead that we take an adjournment and have the joint caucus meeting, as has already been pleaded by the Hon Minority Leader and possibly create room for the presentation of that Statement tomorrow, or perhaps, the day after tomorrow.
Mr Speaker, in that regard, I beg to move that this House adjourns till 10.00 o'clock tomorrow in the forenoon.
Minority Leader ( Mr Haruna Iddrisu) 11:50 p.m.
Mr Speaker, I beg to second the Motion for adjournment, noting that as indicated, the Fifth Report of the Appointments
Committee on His Excellency the President's nominations is not ready, and we would continue Sitting in the consideration of Ministers-designate.
    Mr Speaker 11:50 p.m.
    All right.
Before I put the Question, I will want the public to understand that at this time of the year, we are now putting into place Ministers and setting out businesses. We were discussing some of these prior to our coming in at this time. So, sometimes, when the House is late in Sitting at this time of the year, especially at the beginning of a new Session, it means that there is a lot of work. This could not be finished; that is why at one stage, we were nevertheless compelled to come in.
So, tomorrow, we shall continue. Meanwhile, there will be committee sittings as was indicated.
Question put and Motion agreed to.
    ADJOURNMENTP 11:50 p.m.

  • The House was accordingly adjourned at 12.08 p.m. till Thursday, 9th February, 2017 at 10.00 a.m.
